Forty years after the only retrospective ever dedicated to him in the United States, the Custodia Foundation is organizing a major exhibition devoted to Léon Bonvin (1834–1866), an artist whose works are now rare and highly sought after by leading museums and the most discerning art lovers. To mark the occasion, the foundation is publishing a catalog raisonné of his entire body of work. The exhibition and the catalog shed new light on the life and art of Léon Bonvin. They reveal numerous previously unseen works, scattered across public and private collections, primarily in the United States and France.
