Marcel Gromaire (1892 – 1971) : The Elegance of Power

Exhibition from 14 March 2020 to 20 September 2020 at "La Piscine", Roubaix.

Benefiting from the exceptional participation of the Musée d'art moderne de Paris / Paris Museum of Modern Art but also, and above all the fundamental support of the Galerie de la Présidence and the artist's family, the Eugène Boudin Museum in Honfleur and the Paul Valéry Museum in Sète, that have joined their forces with" La Piscine" to organise a vast monographic exhibition devoted to Marcel Gromaire (1892-1971), an essential figure in realist and humanist Art of the North.

(...) With more than 150 loans from public institutions and private collections, Marcel Gromaire's talents in the field of painting, but also in drawing, illustrated books, prints, tapestry cardboard and monumental decorations will be evoked. Unavoidable masterpieces such as "La Guerre" or" Place Blanche" will thus be confronted with unpublished or more confidential works.
